When we run PC, many unwanted and unnecessary files are created on our hard disk drive. Sometimes they are system dump files, system error logs, temporary files and many more. We call these files temporary files or junk files. These unnecessary files make our PC slow. Sometimes we face difficulty to run programmes or games. But these junk files don't take too much space in our HDD. But they can make your PC slow - that's true. Some people do not clean or delete these files for a long time. At that time their PC may become slow.
Cleaning out these junk files isn't a big deal. Anyone, simply can do it within a few minutes. Some may think that this is a hard or annoying job. If so, they may download cleaner software. But it's really not a big problem. It's simple, easy and useful.
So, let's begin. There are different folders in your hard disk which contain junk files. We usually clean junk files from Temp, Prefetch etc folders. We can find these folders easily using a built in program called "Run". Most of us may be familiar with this. So, we have to open Run. In different Windows, there are different ways to open Run. In Windows XP, 7 and 8 you can easily search for " Run". To search, you have to right click on Start button. Then click Search (method may vary). But the easiest way to open Run is to press the following buttons in our keyboard:
Windows Button + R
A small window will appear in front of you. There you have to type several words.
1. Type "temp" and press enter. A folder will appear with several files in it. These are the temporary files. Delete all the files here.
2. Now type "%temp%" and press enter. These are also temporary files. Delete them.
3. Then type "prefetch" which contains many junk files. You can delete them too.
You may think that it is difficult to type and remember those words or keywords. But the matter is once you type them, those will be saved automatically. So, you don't need to type them every time.
The system error logs take a large space in your HDD. To clean up them, you have to follow a different method. First go to your computer (known as My Computer). Right click on the Windows drive (usually C drive). Go to properties and there you will find "Disk Cleanup" option. Click on it. Then select things you want to clean (system error logs, files in recycle bin etc) from the left side of the window. Then proceed and wait until the process finishes. This will clear a lot of your HDD.
Now isn't it easy? I think it is. But you may also use cleaner software to clean up these. But sometimes that's a bit risky. So, this may be a little difficult but it is safe. Enjoy your cleaned PC!
